Bienvenidos a Miami!!!

from our cockpit

What a contrast. Easy Gulf Stream crossing to Mia Marina in the heart of downtown. High rise skyscrapers all around the basin. Miami has a beat, a pulse. There is always music somewhere nearby. The marina has live bands at night and restaurants, daiquiri bars and free water! Madame Geneva is clean- a big deal- water tanks are full without making water- food is great, Pandora works…ok there are some things about the USA we are super happy to have back. As we entered the entrance to Biscayne Bay from offshore we were greeted with several planes towing banners advertising this and that. One was huge and offered “shoot a real machine gun!”….ok, not everything in the US makes me feel great but, the boat is due to be fixed, the food is great, Wendy then my parents are coming to visit, and the city is awesome so even when the news is discouraging….Just love your people and leave only footprints.Architecture here, like the heat and humidity, is incredible. More so has been a bit of a break for Kelly and me.  Kelly was looking for diversions online and found a week long summer camp at Jungle Island!  9-4 every day at a zoo, swimming, playing with animals and learning with kids their age. Plus, mom and dad touring south beach and metro Miami enjoying architecture, adult food, drinks, and a bit of space. It’s amazing without children after 6 weeks 24/7, I haven’t had to repeat myself, reinforce my instructions or threaten to take away any privileges with Kelly for 2 whole days!   We’re a bit worn down I see now that we have a few feet of space to be adults. No shortage of time as a family, no complaints about the close quarters we’ve sequestered ourselves in, just happy for a minute to remind each other what it’s like to be adults. I bought Kelly flowers yesterday.

We’re deciding if we’ll stay longer. Here till the end of the week regardless since they can’t do any work till Monday. Miami is fantastic. Maybe we’ll just stay and live here, although we may find more English speakers in Puerto Rico and I know the food will be great there too. Sorry Bahamas, I’m feeling the culture now and really enjoying the smells, sounds and tastes of it. Oh and, imagine this, Quinn, the boy who likes only pizza and chicken tacos, the boy who turns his nose up at all manner of fantastic food, has just finished his Second Dinner of Peruvian Food and loves it! Stay tuned, much love!
