Hi, I’m Quinn and yesterday I went to the Zoo De Martinique. So, I picked three of the coolest animals there. It was hard because there were some cool animals there, so I just picked three. These animals are the following: Red handed tamarin, black jaguar, and the red-footed tortoise.

Red handed tamarin

Red-handed Tamarin

The red-handed tamarin eats fruits, insects, greens, small odents, and small reptiles, eggs and tree sap. The red-handed tamarin lives in Brazil, Guyana, French Guiana, Suriname, and Venezuela. The red-handed tamarin got its name because of its red fur on its hands and feet. And I’m guessing that the black jaguar (which is after I write about the red footed tortoise) would eat the red-handed tamarin. Its scientific name is Saguinus midas.red footed tortoise

Red Footed Tortoise

The Red footed tortoise lives in dry forest areas, grasslands, and the savanna. They are from south America. When they are full grown they usually reach up to 30 centimeters. But some grow up to 40 centimeters or more. The red footed tortoise has other names. The male tortoises are bigger than females. The red footed tortoise eats romaine lettuce, red and green leaf lettuce, endive, escarole, chicory, and other stuff. Its scientific name is geochelone carbonaria.

Black Jaquars

These animals live alone. The black jaguar is one of the largest things in the Felidae family. After the babies are born, the female becomes highly aggressive toward any threat, which can include its father. The babies stay with their mother up to two years learning and practicing their hunting skills. The black jaguars diet are medium sized mammals such as deer, peccaries, tapirs, capybara, fish, and some reptiles. its scientific name is panthera pardus.

The conclusion is yesterday was a great day!
